Representatives from Marathon Health presented a year-three update to the Denton County Commissioners Court on the county’s MyFamily (employee) health clinic, reporting 6,578 total visits since the clinic went live and 1,582 unique patients.
Marathon’s presenters said members who engage with the clinic cost the county’s plan about 25% less than non‑engaged members; Marathon cited approximate per-member annual costs of $5,600 for engaged members versus $7,500 for non-engaged members last year. Presenters reported a patient satisfaction rating of 99.3% and a survey-completion rate of about 14%.
Marathon highlighted service changes in the last year, including hiring a dedicated mental-health provider in September and adding a nurse practitioner, Gurdish, who replaced a retiring clinician. Marathon and county HR staff described outreach efforts such as lunch-and-learn events, book clubs, new-hire presentations and targeted engagement with departments whose schedules made clinic access harder. Marathon said the largest year-over-year increases in clinic engagement were in the tax assessor-collector, juvenile detention and operations departments; public health showed the single largest departmental increase.
The vendor presented biometric-improvement metrics, reporting that 80% of members with at‑risk biometrics showed improvement over a 24‑month comparison and noting modest average BMI improvement and better cholesterol measures in aggregate. Marathon also shared patient success stories described in the slide deck.
Presenters said provider-access measures were strong: roughly 99% of patients reported being able to schedule at a preferred time, and about 97% reported satisfaction with wait time. Marathon noted that raw survey volume is limited—completion was ~14%—and said the more completed surveys the clinic receives, the more actionable the data for tailoring services.
County HR thanked Marathon and said the program supports the county’s wellness goals and could reduce costs by preventing rather than merely treating conditions. The presentation was informational; no formal action or budget vote was recorded.
Quoted from the presentation: “Since go live, we had over 6,578 visits to the health center. Of those visits, we had 1,582 unique patients,” and “patient satisfaction … is 99.3%,” both reported by Marathon representatives. Marathon also summarized mental-health staffing and community outreach as ongoing priorities.
