Board approves York High School vestibule bid after procurement review

The Elmhurst CUSD 205 Board of Education voted 7-0 Dec. 17 to approve the low bid(s) for construction of a secure vestibule at York Community High School.
District staff and procurement consultant ICI described the bidding process: the district advertised the project, posted drawings and specifications on ICI’s plan room, and held a public bid opening on Dec. 5 where bids were read aloud. ICI’s Jason Wasser said the solicitation drew three bidders for general trades and seven bidders for glass and glazing. After scope and qualification reviews, ICI sent a letter of recommendation to district staff proposing award to the recommended contractors.
The board discussed the purpose of the work — installing a secure vestibule consistent with safety standards and the district’s referendum projects — and asked brief procedural questions about the bid review. A motion to approve the York vestibule bid was made by Mrs. Cafforio and seconded by Mrs. Arvanites. The motion passed 7-0.
Staff said the vestibule is among the remaining safety and security upgrades in the district’s referendum program and that awarded contractors will proceed under the contract documents previously provided to bidders.
