Pitt County Board swears in new members and selects James Tripp as chair

Sarah Beth Fulford Rhodes, Clerk of Superior Court of Pitt County, administered oaths to newly and recently elected members, and Dr. Steve M. Lassiter, superintendent, presided over the board’s election for chair. Following nominations, James E. Tripp Jr. was chosen to serve as chair of the Pitt County Board of Education.
The board also elected a vice chair after nominations for Worth Forbes and Kelly Weaver. The transcript records the final tally for the vice-chair vote as 5 to 4; meeting remarks indicate Worth Forbes was selected as vice chair.
