Stevens County reauthorizes human-services contracts subject to attorney updates and renews emergency-manager agreement

The Stevens County Board of Commissioners approved a package of human-services contracts, authorized staff to update statutory citations and grammar in other standing agreements, and renewed the county emergency-manager contract on a year-to-year basis.

Staff told the board that several human-services contracts in the packet were previously approved for content and payment rates but had outdated statutory citations; the county attorney’s office reviewed and proposed renumbering and wording updates. The board reapproved the full contracts for providers (including Lutheran Social Service and others named in the packet) and separately approved reauthorization of certain contracts subject to the attorney’s office making statutory and numbering updates.

Separately, the board approved renewal of the county emergency-manager contract on a one-year term with annual renewals unless changed. Staff said wages for the deputy emergency manager were updated in the renewed agreement and that the deputy will spend part of their time in emergency-management duties and part in another county role; the contract structure is intended to provide flexibility for staffing and emergency response.
