Board approves $105,894 courthouse camera and door-access upgrade; vendor selected

The Board of Commissioners approved a purchase order and contract with Building Automation Services LLC to install a courthouse physical-security upgrade consisting of cameras and door access control, County IT Director Marcel Miranda told the board Wednesday.
Miranda said the project is the first phase of a countywide security-refresh program. The county issued RFP 25-283 and received five proposals; the recommended bid scored highest on the county’s scoring matrix. The contract value for the courthouse phase is $105,894.22, Miranda said, and funding will come from courthouse renovation project funds ($91,612.67) with $14,281.55 drawn from the general fund.
Board members asked whether the cameras and access pads are movable and whether deputy court-security staff wear body-worn cameras; Miranda responded that cameras and access-control equipment are portable though wiring and controllers are fixed, and that he would confirm whether court security deputies use body cameras. The county project will include interior and exterior coverage; Miranda said the total camera count for the courthouse phase is 32 units. The selected equipment carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty and includes three years of subscription services, he said.
The board voted to approve the purchase order and authorize contract execution. The sheriff’s office will oversee system operation in coordination with court-security personnel.
