Newly elected Wright County officials were sworn in and the board chose its 2025 leadership at the county’s organizational meeting.
At the start of the meeting, Andrew Rasmussen took the oath of office as a county supervisor, saying, “I, Andrew Rasmussen, do solemnly swear … that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the state of Iowa … to the best of my ability discharge all the duties of the office of supervisor in Wright County, Iowa, as now or hereafter required by law.” Amanda Meyer repeated the oath when sworn in as county auditor, and an individual took the oath for sheriff during the same sequence of ceremonies.
Shortly after the oaths, the board moved to elect officers for 2025. A motion was made to nominate Rick for chairman; the motion received a second and passed on a voice vote with members saying “aye.” The board then nominated Dean for chairman pro tem; that motion was also seconded and carried by voice vote. The board recorded the votes as “Aye” and announced “Motion carried.” The new chairman and pro tem are to serve for the 2025 calendar year.
The meeting included brief photo arrangements following the swearing-in and informal directions from staff to assemble for official pictures.
The swearing-in and leadership elections were procedural actions at the start of the board’s organizational business and set the board’s officers and meeting cadence for the coming year.
Looking ahead, the board scheduled organizational business and administrative items for subsequent meetings, including committee assignments and budget-review dates.
