Landmarks Commission reports $25,000 allocation for 2025 paint-and-repair grants

City staff told the Waukesha City Landmarks Commission on Jan. 8 that the commission's paint-and-repair grant program has a 2025 allocation of $25,000 and that carryover from 2023–24 projects remains available for grantees completing work in 2025.

Staff said the program typically covers roughly 15% of project costs, up to a $3,000 maximum, and that the commission may exercise discretion based on project scope and fund availability. As of the Jan. 8 meeting, $18,134 had been dispersed to completed projects and $2,850 had been set aside for projects expected to finish in 2025; staff said those grantees would be eligible to receive their awards when the work is done and funding remains available.

The commission discussed general priorities and fund availability; there was no formal vote on adjustments to the program at the Jan. 8 meeting.
