The Red Hook Town Board voted on Jan. 22 to continue the town's existing MVP Silver 8 employee health insurance plan for the plan year March 1, 2025, through Feb. 28, 2026.
Board members reviewed multiple renewal scenarios, utilization ratios and premium options. Members said they examined alternatives that could lower the town's premium but noted tradeoffs such as higher deductibles or reduced benefits. One member summarized the board's conclusion: the anticipated cost and benefit profile did not provide sufficient incentive to change plans.
During the discussion a board member observed that an approximate 8% increase in the premium is consistent with recent health‑care market trends; the board noted that health‑care premium increases have varied in recent years. After motion and second, the board approved continuing the existing MVP Silver 8 plan by voice vote.
No additional contractual amendments or changes to employee contributions were adopted at the Jan. 22 meeting. The board directed staff to proceed with finalizing the renewal under the existing plan design and to bring any enrollment materials or employee notices forward as required by the plan's timelines.
