Gambling Control Board: Director reports FY25 gross receipts decline, notes early signs of recovery

The director said June 2025 receipts were up 0.39% compared with June 2024, which she described as “a hopeful indication of recovery” following changes to electronic pull tabs.
The director (name not specified), in the report to the board, said the agency completed a hard close for FY25 with no major issues and that the board’s one-month budget status is under budget. She told members the agency is developing a communications-specialist position with Minnesota Management and Budget and expects to post that role after further review of the position description.
The director said staff continue to refine the board website based on public feedback and that the agency is preparing an annual report to be released in November after finalizing late or amended filings. She also outlined a continuing-education push for gambling managers: staff plan to run non‑permanent offerings through Dec. 15 so officials can identify who still needs to complete required training and notify them that the last two weeks of December will be available to meet the requirement.
Board members did not raise additional questions during the report. The chair (name not specified) moved the meeting to committee reports after the director concluded.
