School board approves new elementary ELA materials and IB Global Politics companion for 2025–26

She described the recommended package as a two‑part approach for foundational skills (word recognition) and language comprehension.
The board motioned to approve the recommended materials. The district staff summary listed the recommended resources as Functional Phonics and Morphology for the word‑recognition component, Letters from Great Minds for the language‑comprehension component of the district ELA curriculum, and the IB Global Politics Course Companion for the global politics course for 2025–26. The materials, Dr. Ladue said, "were available for the public at the district service center throughout the summer and no comments were received."
Board members voted in favor; the chair called for the ayes and the motion passed. The materials will be available to teachers as the district moves professional learning into day‑to‑day classroom practice this fall, supporting the board’s stated literacy goal.
No public comments were recorded on the materials during the posted availability period, and the recommendation followed work during the prior school year by the elementary English Language Arts Committee and district leadership.
