TCEQ fills six vacancies on municipal solid waste management advisory council

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality on July 9 adopted the executive director’s resolution filling six vacancies on the Municipal Solid Waste Management and Resource Recovery Advisory Council and appointed a council president.
The commission approved the executive director’s recommendations to appoint Thomas Parker as a registered waste tire processor (term expiring Aug. 31, 2027); Ken May as a representative from a planning region (term expiring Aug. 31, 2027); Richard Abramowitz as a representative of the general public (term expiring Aug. 31, 2031); Scott Trevis as a representative from a solid waste management organization composed primarily of commercial operators (term expiring Aug. 31, 2031); Risa Weinberger as a person experienced in the management and operation of a composting or recycling facility or an educator with relevant knowledge (term expiring Aug. 31, 2031); and Seth Cunningham as a representative of the financial community (term expiring Aug. 31, 2031). Jeffrey Maysail was appointed advisory council president with a term expiring Aug. 31, 2027.
Chairwoman Brooke Paul and commissioners expressed appreciation for volunteers and existing committee members. Staff noted nominations remain open year-round for other vacancies.
The motion to adopt the executive director’s resolution passed unanimously.
