The Town of Sahuarita Town Council unanimously approved resolution 2025-0829 amending the personnel policy manual to add two holidays, expand critical-care leave and adjust floating-holiday rules.
Acting Human Resources Director Liliana Soto told the council the amendments add December 24 and December 31 as paid holidays, increase the critical-care leave allotment from 24 hours to 30 hours, and change the floating-holiday accrual from a monthly loading to an annual loading at the start of the year.
Soto said the change from 24 to 30 hours for critical-care leave and the two added holidays grew from earlier discussion at the council’s retreat and were intended to support work–life balance and make the town a more competitive employer. “We will be loading those hours in the beginning of the year instead of the month,” Soto said, describing the floating-holiday change.
A council member asked whether the paperwork referenced January 31 or December 31; Soto confirmed the intent is December 31. Following that clarification, a motion to adopt resolution 2025-0829 passed unanimously.
The resolution updates the town’s personnel policy manual to reflect the newly adopted holidays, the revised critical-care leave amount, and the floating-holiday timing. Council members praised the amendment as a quality-of-life improvement for staff.
