Broadwater County approves multiple Old Town Bridge contracts, temporary construction license and waterway permits

Broadwater County commissioners approved a series of actions to move the Old Town Bridge construction project forward, including assignment of beam procurement, a construction contract with Battle Ridge Builders, a temporary construction license on private land and a joint application for permits covering streams, wetlands and other water bodies.
Commissioner Swanson led discussion of the procurement assignment to transfer ownership of prestressed concrete beams from Broadwater County to the contractor, Battle Ridge Builders. The board moved, seconded and approved the assignment by voice vote.
The commissioners then approved a construction contract between Broadwater County and Battle Ridge Builders for the Old Town Bridge construction project. The board also approved a temporary construction license, a 50-foot-wide area on the southerly side of the bridge on property owned by Dayrider Ranch LLC, to allow staging, equipment storage and access. The license completion date in the contract was recorded as June 30, 2026.
Finally, commissioners approved a joint application with Battle Ridge Builders for proposed work in Montana streams, wetlands, flood plains and other water bodies. Staff and commissioners clarified a typographical error on the agenda (the word "bonds" should read "bodies").
Commissioners thanked Staley Engineering for managing much of the project paperwork and noted a partnership with Gallatin County on the bridge project. County attorney Bratcher reviewed project documents and indicated no legal objections. All Old Town Bridge items were approved by voice vote with no public comment recorded.
