Related Companies updates Cape Park plan; asks Wellington for FDOT support on signal

Related Companies and partners gave Wellington’s Village Council a progress report on the 71.3-acre Cape Park site on May 19, outlining retail preleasing, a revised residential plan, hotel and parking-deck proposals and next steps on traffic mitigation.

At a council workshop, Kevin Ryan, senior development officer with Related ROSS, said the team has moved “significantly through almost all the due diligence components” including soils, environmental testing and a detailed survey and that the developers submitted the first approvals materials last week. Ken Himel, a Related ROSS presenter, and Max Kay also described a retail-led village, an expanded retail program of roughly 200,000 square feet, and a smaller low-rise residential plan focused on townhouses.

Why it matters: The project would add a mixed-use village with retail, restaurants, a hotel and low-rise housing near existing Wellington neighborhoods and roads.
