Council committee proposes moving vehicle‑license fee due date from December to June

Councilman Vick told colleagues on Oct. 14 that a change to the vehicle license fee billing schedule will be presented at the next council meeting. The committee recommendation would move the VLF due date from Dec. 5 to June 5 to align the fee billing with the calendar year it covers (January–December), which the presenter said should eliminate confusion created by billing in advance of the assessment year.
Vick thanked Treasurer Marty Eubank for bringing the issue forward and said the change is intended to be an administrative efficiency for vehicle owners who currently receive the personal property tax bill and VLF in advance of the covered assessment year. He said he would present more formal materials at the council meeting.
No vote or final decision on the due‑date change was recorded at the work session; the item was described as coming before council at the next meeting for formal consideration.
