The Forest Lake City Council administered the oath of office to Kevin Miller, who was appointed to fill the council seat vacated when the mayor was sworn into office earlier this year.
Mayor Roberts explained the selection process: after the mayors election and the resulting vacancy, the city solicited applications and received 11 applicants. The council reduced that list to five finalists and interviewed each; at the subsequent meeting the council voted unanimously to offer the seat to Kevin Miller.
Kevin Miller briefly addressed the council. The mayor and other council members noted Miller’s background in real estate and his prior service as a member of the planning commission.
The oath was administered by Jolene and Miller then participated in the regular meeting. No formal motion to confirm the oath was recorded beyond the earlier unanimous vote to offer the seat; the appointment and oath were completed during the meeting.
