District launches SUSD newsroom, highlights KVOA back-to-school drive and opening‑day events

Francisco Felix and communications staff said the district will again partner with KVOA Channel 4 for the annual school‑supply drive on Monday, July 28, to be held at Sierra K‑8; the district rotates the event among schools and expects live media coverage and performer showcases throughout the 12‑hour drive. Staff encouraged board members to attend and noted parking at Sunnyside High School will be limited for the superintendent’s opening‑day event.
Communications staff said printed district calendars were delayed to align with the newly completed strategic plan and that calendars would be distributed in August or early September. A new SUSD newsroom section on the homepage will archive short highlights and amplify school accomplishments.
Staff asked board members for any additions they would like to see in future communications and said they will present an after‑school update at the next board meeting.
