The Allegany County Board of Elections was told on July 1 that the office completed its fiscal‑year 2025 inventory audit and has complied with record retention guidance after litigation involving the 2020 and 2022 elections concluded.
Diane told the board the FY25 inventory audit is complete and that the office has accounted for all equipment. She said the state and local boards were named in lawsuits related to the 2020 and 2022 elections; on May 16, 2025, the attorney general’s office provided an all‑clear that those lawsuits are closed, which allowed the office to follow its regular retention schedule.
Following the AG office guidance, the county contracted a shredding company and disposed of materials allowed under the retention schedule; Diane said about 7,700 pounds of paper were shredded, which freed space in the office’s warehouse.
The board did not take further action; the report described compliance with legal holds and the office’s return to standard record retention practices.
