At the July 1 meeting, staff described a multi‑step succession plan for the Allegany County Board of Elections office that will take effect in early 2026.
Director Diane announced that Wendy Maddox has been promoted to the position of administrator effective Feb. 1, 2026, and that Sarah Lohr has been promoted to deputy director with the same effective timeframe. Diane said Sarah “will be shadowing Wendy as Wendy is shadowing me.”
Diane explained the office will post the registrar position vacated by Sarah; the job should be posted “either today or tomorrow,” she said, and the office hopes to have a new hire in roughly five to six weeks so training can begin. The office plans a mock election in October to let new staff run procedures before the 2026 election.
Board members congratulated the promoted staff at the meeting. No formal board vote was taken on the personnel announcements; the report was informational and described planned hiring and training steps.
