Court ratifies application and accepts $12,000 Tomball Healthcare Coalition grant for AEDs and tourniquets

Waller County Commissioners ratified a grant application and accepted a $12,000 award under the Tomball Health Coalition Tri-County Health Alliance program to buy AEDs for county vehicles and tourniquets for a Stop the Bleed program.

Brooke (last name not provided), a county grant staffer, told the court that the application Dean submitted did not follow the normal routing but sought retroactive ratification. “This is an application that Dean submitted. It unfortunately didn't go through the normal grant routing process, so I'm just going before the court asking for y'all to ratify the application,” Brooke said.

The grant will supply AEDs for patrol vehicles and fire trucks and tourniquets intended for Stop the Bleed trainings at schools, Brooke said. The court was told there is no local matching requirement. Commissioners were later told the county received $12,000 rather than the $30,000 originally requested. Brooke described an intended split of roughly $6,000 for AEDs (estimated to buy about five units) and $1,000 for tourniquets; the meeting record shows the remainder will cover related procurement needs.
