Kaw Valley engineers recommended that Linn County award the contract for a new transfer-station tipping floor to Cone Construction Services, the low bidder at $1,765,595.58, but county staff warned commissioners they must decide soon whether to commit federal ARPA funds that staff expect to cover part of the project.
Chad McCullough, project engineer with Kaw Valley, told the board that three companies bid on the project and that the low bid exceeded the county’s June estimate of $1,630,000. "The low bid was Cone Construction Services out of the Kansas City area that was $1,765,595.58," McCullough said, and he said he had checked references and recommended awarding to Cone.
