Board approves radio tower, gravel-pit expansion, rental-site changes and other planning items
Summary
A cluster of planning items cleared the board with PRPC recommendations: a radio tower at Calvary Chapel (ZCMP-24-11), a gravel-pit expansion including a master plan amendment and zone change (ZCMP-24-12 and ZCMP-24-10), and a small commercial rezoning for a rental business (ZCMP-24-17 and ZCMP-24-16).
The Nye County Board of County Commissioners approved multiple planning items on Feb. 19 that had been recommended by the Pahrump Regional Planning Commission (PRPC).
Key approvals included:
- ZCMP-24-11: A conforming zone change to permit installation of a radio tower antenna on property owned by Calvary Chapel Pahrump Valley. The PRPC had recommended approval; the BOCC approved the change 5–0.
- ZCMP-24-12 and ZCMP-24-10: A minor master-plan amendment and associated zone change to allow expansion of a gravel-pit facility on East Blosser Road (Morales Construction). The PRPC recommended approval and the board approved the master plan amendment and the conforming zone change 5–0 after public testimony supporting local aggregate availability and jobs.
- ZCMP-24-17 and ZCMP-24-16: A minor master-plan amendment and conforming zone change to allow expansion of a rent-to-go rental facility on East Cambridge Road. PRPC had recommended approval and the BOCC approved both items 5–0.
Across those items, staff and the PRPC found the applications met county code requirements; public comment included local business owners supporting the gravel-pit expansion as a competitive, local source of materials and residents raising standard land-use concerns. The board voted to adopt staff and PRPC findings and conditions for each item.
