Superintendent reports midterm state-aid adjustment, teacher-of-the-year to be separate event; district recognizes two employees

Superintendent Doctor Simpson told the Guthrie Public Schools Board of Education on Jan. 13 that the district received a midterm adjustment to state aid funding that will provide "just over $70,000" in additional funds from the initial allocation.
Doctor Simpson also said Charter Oak Elementary received a $1,000 gift from Spring Creek Assembly in Edmond to pay off student lunch account balances for December. "Charter Oak Elementary received a gift of $1,000 from Spring Creek Assembly and Edmond to pay off student lunch account balances in the month of December," Simpson said.
The superintendent told the board that the teacher-of-the-year celebration will be held separately from the February Board of Education meeting because the event has grown in size. He said the celebration will take place at Meridian Technology Center South Campus on Monday, Feb. 24, beginning at 5:30 p.m., and will include light snacks and videos.
Earlier in the meeting the board recognized two employees: a custodian at Cottrell and a newly hired librarian/media specialist, both praised by board members for their service. The recognitions were presented by Board member Hancock as part of the employee and student recognition agenda item.
No formal action was required on the recognitions or report items.
