Board approves two senior representatives as nonvoting members of superintendent student advisory council

The board voted to approve student representatives from the superintendent’s student advisory council; the motion to approve was made by Shauna Gamble and supported by Gerry Underhill. The board’s voice vote was recorded as unanimous in favor.
Superintendent (name not provided at the meeting) introduced the students as contributors to the district’s effort to bring student voice to board discussions and noted the council’s prior accomplishments. “They are both just outstanding students and citizens,” the superintendent said.
Student representatives said their work on the council has centered on practical school issues. Noah French (senior) described efforts that led to student free admission to home games and changes to restroom access near the cafeteria; the superintendent and board members urged the students to continue bringing peer feedback to committee and board discussions.
The appointments were informational and organizational; the students will serve in nonvoting roles and participate in future board discussions and committee outreach.
