The Edmond Public Schools Board approved final drawings for Boulevard Academy and authorized staff to proceed with the bidding process.
District staff reviewed six months of design work and presented first- and second-floor plans. Board members asked about entrances, access to the gym from the new addition and whether the building is on a historic registry; staff responded that the building is not on a historic registry and that materials and detailing will match existing buildings where practicable. Staff said the enclosed walkway on the south side leading to the gym will be included in the project and showed parking and drop-off locations on the plans.
When asked about the construction timeline, staff said, “As long as I don't hit something in the ground, we should be open by August of 26,” indicating an anticipated opening in August 2026, contingent on site conditions and construction scheduling. The board approved a motion to accept the drawings and authorize the bidding process.
Why it matters: Boulevard Academy is a district facility project; approval of drawings and authorization to bid moves the project from design toward construction and establishes the schedule staff will use for procurement and construction oversight.
Vote: After a motion and second to approve the drawings and authorize bidding, the board recorded affirmative votes from Coleman (yes); Jones (yes); Benson (yes); Underwood (yes); Hopgood (yes).
