Assessor seeks funds for mapping updates, tuition and personal‑property services; staff recruiting underway

Councilors asked whether a failure to fund mapping updates would harm the online parcel maps; Penzino said the online system would not be updated and that would be “a big problem.” The budget also includes about $49,000 for personal‑property valuation services provided under contract by RRC; Penzino said the current contract runs through FY27.
Councilors pressed on staffing and vacancies. Several councilors noted a difference between FY25 and FY26 full‑time rosters and asked the assessor to provide a personnel list to reconcile whether one position was omitted in the roster printed in the budget book. Penzino said the department had two office assistant vacancies and expected interviews and hires in the coming weeks after earlier hiring freezes eased.
