Those sworn in in district order included Wing Ng, Toshiba Rice, Lynn Edmonds, Sam Hershey and Lindsay Mahaffey; members gave brief remarks after taking their oaths.
Chair Haggerty then surrendered the gavel to the superintendent to preside over the formal annual election of officers. The board followed its stated procedure: nominations were made, nominations were closed, and ballots were cast and tabulated by counsel. Haggerty was nominated for another term and elected chair by a 9‑0 vote. Tyler Swanson was elected vice chair on a 7‑2 ballot; the minutes show that two members did not vote for Swanson (one vote came from Cheryl Caulfield and one from Wing Ng). The chair announced the results and thanked members for their confidence.
Board members used the ceremony to acknowledge returning colleagues and to invite family and community for a brief reception and photos. The meeting then proceeded to its business agenda.
No changes to policy or district governance were enacted during the swearing‑in portion beyond the standard oath and officer elections. The newly constituted board also accepted a resignation letter from a member (Monika Johnson Hosler), announced later in the meeting, and directed staff to post the timeline and vacancy notice for District 2.
