Cleveland Schools expands MobileMind professional learning platform; district reports growing teacher uptake

Valerie Taylor, federal funds and PD supervisor for the district, said every teacher and leader has an account and that MobileMind now hosts district calendars, asynchronous modules, in-person events and a "backpack" that tracks approved PD hours. "Our integrated badge studio also allows leaders to create digital micro credentials in seconds," Taylor said.

Rollout and usage details - Accounts and dashboards: Taylor said every teacher and leader has an account with individualized dashboards showing announcements, assigned learning paths and approved PD hours in a recorded “backpack.” - Local facilitation and events: The district has nine facilitators who help organize and run sessions at multiple sites. Taylor said district leaders solicit teacher-led sessions and post them to a shared events calendar; teachers can RSVP and attendance can be verified with join codes. - Custom development and partnership: Taylor said MobileMind added a Google-approval workflow for Cleveland after district staff requested easier ways to approve outside PD. The district intends to build district-created courses and conferences inside the platform and to align future modules with evaluation priorities. - Assessment and competency: MobileMind supports embedded assessments inside modules and events; Taylor said some modules include pre/post assessments and that the district can add assessment pieces as leaders create courses.
District feedback and next steps Board members asked whether the platform recommends PD based on teacher-assessment results; Taylor said module creators can add assessments and that broader alignment with the district’s TEAM evaluation is under consideration as staff create district courses. Taylor reported the platform experienced "growing pains" when first adopted but said this third year has seen much higher uptake, especially after teachers began facilitating sessions themselves.
