District staff present new policy on threatening or intimidating staff drawn from recent legislation

Staff introduced Policy 16.62.1, a new draft addressing threatening or intimidating behavior directed at staff, and said the draft reflects changes from recent legislation. Stacy described the item as new and not a revision of an existing policy.
Board members asked whether the subject matter overlaps other district policies such as bullying statutes; one member observed there is an existing bullying statute and that investigative procedures for the new policy would follow established district processes. "...the last full or I guess it's the second to last full paragraph, talks about other policies that, we follow the same investigative procedures that we follow for those policies as well," Stacy said.
Members did not raise objections on the substance during the discussion and staff planned to include the new policy in the packet for formal consideration.
