The Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a $40,000 lump‑sum contract with HDR Engineering to study safety and drainage along about 1.25 miles of Bray Station Road.
Traffic Engineer Nichu Singh told the board the corridor connects Wolf River Boulevard to Poplar Avenue and that the segment between Frank Road and Civic Center Drive is narrow with no sidewalks or shoulders and open drainage ditches. Singh said the consultant will collect traffic and crash data, drainage and right‑of‑way information and produce intersection and corridor concept plans and cost estimates.
Aldermen asked whether the study would consider widening; Singh said the contract is for data collection and engineering analysis and that any need for widening would be a recommendation from HDR, not an assumed outcome. Singh also explained the town typically solicits formal qualifications for projects over $50,000; for amounts below that threshold staff may select a known specialist. The board voted unanimously to approve the agreement.
Singh estimated a three‑month study timeline from notice to proceed, with deliverables including conceptual intersection layouts at Frank Road and Civic Center Drive, typical corridor cross sections incorporating drainage improvements and major right‑of‑way and utility constraints.
The motion recorded for this action directed staff to proceed under the proposed scope and budget; the contract was approved on a unanimous roll call.
