Clark County Commission on Aging to Bring Bylaw Amendments to Meeting After Two Reviews

The Clark County Commission on Aging discussed proposed bylaw changes during a March work session and confirmed the packeted edits have completed the required two reviews and will be put to a vote at the commission’s regular meeting.

Amy Wooten, community planner, told members the proposed bylaw changes were included in the meeting packet and had been reviewed at an earlier January or February session. “2 reviews are required by the bylaws,” Wooten said, and she said members could approve the changes in the ensuing meeting.

Ken Lund, commission member, asked about the most substantive change raised previously. “My question is, as I recall, yeah, there are some administrative changes, but the only substantial issue that had a much discussion around it was the potential to be perpetually on the board versus term limits. Is my recall correct?” Lund asked.

Wooten confirmed the commission had removed the proposed language that would have altered how long members can serve, saying there was not enough support for that change at the February meeting and some members had expressed concerns. Cass (last name not specified), commission member, clarified the current language remains: “So we are back down to a maximum of 2 consecutive terms.”

Commission members also confirmed a quorum was present for discussion; Wooten noted formal voting typically occurs in the regular meeting rather than during the work session.

The discussion did not produce a vote during the work session. The commission is scheduled to consider approval of the revised bylaws at the meeting that follows the work session.
