Megan McKenna, the new Summit County council liaison to the Board of Health, introduced herself at the start of the meeting and described her background in environmental science and education.
McKenna said she had “been so impressed already with what I've heard” from board members and that she had just completed her first month on the county council. She told the board she was “very passionate about the work you do” and that she previously worked as an environmental science and biology teacher and, most recently, as an affordable housing advocate with Mountainlands Community Housing Trust.
The board also introduced Katie Rodriguez, who joins the department as the administrative assistant in the CAMAS office. Rodriguez said she has been in the position about a month and was “born and raised in Summit County.” The board noted Rodriguez is often the first health department staff members residents see at CAMAS clinics and that she is bilingual.
Christy Walsh, hired as a community health nurse, was unable to attend after being injured while on vacation; the board said it will introduce her at the March meeting.
Board members and staff said they looked forward to working with McKenna and Rodriguez and thanked them for joining the department.
The introductions concluded before the meeting’s legislative update and other agenda items.
