The Amarillo City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to award financing for new fire apparatus and to authorize public notice for a potential certificate-of-obligation (CO) sale of up to $17 million for parks projects and heavy equipment, and it approved two additional ordinances: adoption of the Parks Department's 2025 Standards of Care for youth recreation programs and participation in the Texas Enterprise Zone program to nominate Benny Keith Company.
Mayor Collins presided over a meeting that ended with formal votes on nonconsent items. The council approved the sale and award of a public property finance contractual obligation (PPFCO) series 2025 to BOK Financial Securities for the purchase and financing of fire apparatus and related equipment. City staff and financial advisors told council the competitive sale produced an interest rate substantially below prior estimates, lowering long-term costs compared with vendor leasing.
