Board approves service-charge changes for 6125 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. parcel and Sierra Gardens subdivision

At public hearings Jan. 7, 2025, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors opened, considered and closed hearings on two County Service Area (CSA) matters and approved changes after tabulating ballots.

County Engineering staff presented the first item for 6125 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (parcel subdivision into five parcels). Don Pimentel explained the property’s current assessment and the requested benefit category change: the parcels are currently in the street and safety light nonresidential category (assessed about $101.56 annually including 393 feet of right-of-way). Following a change to the enhanced street and safety light nonresidential category, the total increased annual service charge for the five parcels would be approximately $400.64, apportioned by frontage to the new parcels. A mailed ballot returned in favor; no majority protest was filed and the board authorized proceeding with the benefit category change and levy.

The second hearing concerned County Service Area No. 10, Benefit Zone No. 3, establishing an annual service charge within the proposed Sierra Gardens subdivision, south of Florin Road. Joe Graseck told the board the proposal is a $131.54 annual service charge per single-family lot for 159 lots; a owner ballot was returned in favor and no protests were received. The board adopted the resolution to establish the charge.

Both items recorded single returned ballots in favor and no protests and were adopted by unanimous board vote.
