Williamson County economic development officials report jobs and foreign investment gains, stress spaceport and Korea ties

Dave Porter, executive director of the Williamson County Economic Development Partnership, gave the commissioners an annual update on the Partnership’s activities and results Tuesday, saying Williamson County continues to outperform state and national averages in employment and wage growth.
Porter told the court Williamson County’s unemployment rate stands at about 3.4%, versus 4.1% nationally and 4.0% for Texas. He said the county ranked in the top 10 of U.S. counties for job growth (2.5%) and first for wage growth (7.2%) in the fourth quarter of 2024, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data presented to commissioners. “Williamson County is a big county. It's, 1,134 square miles,” Porter said, adding that economic activity is spreading across the county.
