‘March into a Cleaner Tomorrow’ volunteer effort collected over 1,000 volunteers and more than 1,000 bags, county says

The Board of Commissioners on July 15 received a brief report on the countywide "March into a Cleaner Tomorrow" volunteer cleanup initiative led by District 7 and the county beautification department.
District 7 Commissioner Ladina Bolton presented participation data: "Overall, the registered volunteers was over a thousand. So we had 1,028 total. The number of bags collected over that period of time was... 1,054. And the number of registered groups and organizations was 61," she said.
Bolton highlighted district‑level contributions: District 6 volunteers collected 354 bags and District 7 collected 512 bags. She recognized top contributors in several categories: Tucker Middle School (top schools/education contributor); an individual identified as Mr. Coleman who collected 25 bags; the City of Chamblee (105 bags); DeKalb Greater Towers Community Association (130 bags); the Decatur Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi (74 bags); and the DeKalb Parks & Recreation Department (80 bags).
Bolton said the county plans to continue the annual effort and celebrate participating organizations. Commissioners applauded volunteers and department staff who participated in coordination and pickup efforts. No board action was required; the item was presented for information.
