Sedgwick County staff said the Wednesday consent agenda will include a request to give elected row offices a 2% compensation increase to match recent employee adjustments, and a separate consent item establishing budget authority for fire department equipment purchases.
County staff described the elected-officials item as a single decision on Wednesday to grant a 2% increase; broader policy on elected-official pay will be discussed in the upcoming budget process. The proposal follows employee adjustments that included a combined increase of about 5% for some staff and seeks parity for elected offices.
On the fire agenda, Chief Nelson (Wichita/Sedgwick County Fire) and staff described a budget authority request for roughly $241,000. That total includes about $81,000 for handheld and mobile radios and roughly $60,000 for self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) cylinder replacements; the remainder covers related equipment and budget adjustments.
Both items were listed on the consent agenda for the commission to approve at the upcoming meeting; no formal votes were taken during the agenda review.
