Parks & Waterways vehicle transfer put off after budget, safety and maintenance questions

Commissioners pressed for clearer documentation on motor-pool availability, vehicle condition including maintenance logs and mileage, insurance status and the budget impact on a fee-supported department that is already tight.
Multiple public commenters — including groomer program volunteers and residents — spoke in support of the request and described operational needs. Parks director described the two trucks as serviceable for seasonal refueling and said some vehicles were pulled from other departments when they upgraded their fleets.
After public comment and discussion, the board did not approve the transfer during the initial motion. Commissioner Clark moved to reschedule the item to the next Bonner County business meeting and requested information from the motor pool director (Director Howard) on vehicle condition, motor-pool options, insurance and the specific budget impacts on Parks and Waterways. The board agreed to revisit the request with the additional information.
No final transfer occurred during the meeting; the item will return to a future business agenda with requested documentation.
