The Wright County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Tuesday to establish the Crawford Lake Improvement District (LID) after a petition, public hearing and comments from the DNR were included in the record.
Administrator Kreiser told the board the county had received resounding support from property owners on the lake during prior proceedings and that the order establishes the LID formally; the record will be filed with the Secretary of State. The LID’s initial board of directors will serve only until the district’s first annual meeting, at which point directors can be elected; no tax levies occur until after that annual meeting and the district formally sets assessments, the administrator said.
Commissioner Shane moved to adopt resolution 2,565 establishing the Crawford Lake Improvement District; Commissioner Holland seconded. Commissioners asked whether there was any statutory prohibition against two members of the same household being initial directors; staff said state statute does not prohibit that situation. The resolution passed unanimously.
The board’s order allows the LID to hold its first annual meeting next summer and begin the process of setting assessments and, if approved at the LID meeting, begin levying funds in 2027. The motion included names of initial directors that will be in place only until the LID’s first annual meeting.
