Henderson County Commissioners Court approved a $100,000 change order to increase a water‑system construction contract to cover tariff‑related price increases on generators for an ARPA‑funded project, county staff said.
County staff presented the change order as an allowance that will be adjusted to match documented tariff costs when equipment reaches U.S. shores. The allowance includes a 3 percent bonding cost and was rounded to the nearest thousand to arrive at $100,000, a staff representative said. Staff said the change order does not alter the contract completion schedule.
"This is the change order due to the tariffs on the generators for the water project," Miss Vaughn told the court. A consultant added the allowance language will permit upward or downward adjustment when final pricing is documented.
Commissioner Richardson moved to approve the change order and Commissioner Spivey seconded. The court approved the change order and authorized the county judge to sign the paperwork. County staff said the work remains subject to the existing contract terms and any final allowance adjustment will be documented with back‑up pricing.
Officials noted the county must ensure ARPA‑eligible funds are expended on schedule; staff confirmed the change does not currently change contract time and no additional time extension was requested.
