City staff reported a bid from Any Hour Plumbing that described the building’s kitchen panel as obsolete and in an unsafe location and put the total for work at $21,901. The mayor reported that an independent electrical contractor contacted through a local plumber, Chris Riding of CTR Electric, inspected the building and provided a preliminary ballpark estimate of about $8,500 for required work; Riding’s rough breakdown included roughly $4,600 for exterior work and $3,900 for interior work, with a written bid to follow.
Deaver said CTR Electric would replace the meter base, remove two knife switches, rewire the meter feed so the kitchen circuit passes through the meter, install a larger breaker box with a main disconnect relocated out of the bathroom, and add GFCI protection and labeling. The council discussed the need to obtain comparable, written bids (apples-to-apples comparisons) and whether to solicit three bids; staff said the city could not approve work without receiving formal written bids.
The city’s building-maintenance budget was cited as $25,000, with a recent furnace purchase of $6,141 and community donations totaling $1,280 to the Memorial Building fund. Council members agreed to wait for CTR Electric’s formal written estimate and to compare it with the Any Hour Plumbing documentation before taking action.
