Residents urge safer ER access and expanded city building hours during El Mirage public comment

Two residents used the Jan. 7 call to the public to press the council on local access and city facility hours.
Cheryl Logalbo, who gave her address as 12136 West Dahlia Drive, expressed concern about access to a new emergency room near her neighborhood. "If you're coming from the other direction, you have to stop at the light and wait...I was wondering if you could cut through the median and make a nice entrance so traffic coming from the other direction also can quickly, easily, safely access the ER," Logalbo said, asking the city to explore a median cut to improve access and ambulance response.
Steve Gilliam, an El Mirage resident of 21 years, asked the council to keep the city building open to the public five days a week and to use public meeting space more often. "This place should be open to the public 5 days a week...This building used more accessible to the public for meetings," Gilliam said, adding that employees working four-day weeks reduced public access.
Mayor Alexis Hermosillo and city staff accepted the comments. The mayor asked Logalbo to provide contact information to the city clerk so the city manager could follow up, and staff indicated they would review the requests. No formal council action was taken during the meeting; both items were recorded as public comment and will be available for follow-up by staff.
