Prosser School District announced in a staff video that printed pay stubs will be discontinued and that all employees must use direct deposit by December.
The change affects all employees, including athletic coaches, substitutes, part-time and full-time staff, the staff member said. "First thing is no more printed pay stubs," the staff member said, and later added, "100% of our employees... will have to be 100% direct deposit by December." The message repeated that additional instructions will be sent by email.
District payroll staff said employees can view and print pay stubs through the Skyward employee portal. The staff member walked through steps: sign in to the Prosser School District page, select Staff and Skyward, complete any multifactor authentication, then use Check History or Employee Access to open a pay stub and choose Print or Save as PDF. The presenter demonstrated that the portal offers an option to include or suppress a full Social Security number on printed pay stubs.
The presenter said that, while printed pay stubs will stop, W-2 forms will still be printed; "we will be printing double W-2s," the staff member said. The announcement noted that about 95% of employees already use direct deposit and that payroll will send multiple emails with instructions and links; one email was sent earlier by a person named Deanna.
Employees were also reminded to use their full legal names on timesheets and any payroll-related documents. Using the full legal name on the timesheet header — not a shortened or familiar name — was emphasized to help payroll and human resources locate records and process pay correctly. The presenter also asked that the printed name on the time sheet be legible.
For employees who cannot sign in or who forget credentials, the staff member said there are password-reset steps and help is available from the district IT department or building secretaries. The district noted that pay stubs can be downloaded from a phone, laptop, or PC once an employee signs into Skyward.
The district did not state whether the direct-deposit requirement or the end of printed pay stubs was adopted by the school board or another governing vote; the message was presented as an administrative announcement and staff guidance. Additional details, including exact dates for implementation steps and contact information beyond IT and building secretaries, were not specified.
