Commissioners hold sheriff—s fiscal-constraints resolution after staff seek to name Kendall Allen liaison

Travis (county staff) explained the request: "I'm just asking for the change of the contact person to be the administrative assistant, Kendall Allen, since she's dealing with those budgets every day where we are not." Presenters said the change reflected current staffing as Wanda Martin prepares to retire and that Kendall would provide long-term stability as a liaison for budget questions.
Sheriff's office personnel said the October 31 draft had been interpreted as removing Tyson from responsibilities and that caused concern. One participant summarized: "So is there a way you can... we can use this meeting as clarification to that, that it's just Kendall now is the is 100% the liaison?" Staff confirmed Kendall would be the liaison and that the broader command staff would still be involved in budgeting for 2026.
Commissioners and staff concluded they would hold the resolution to avoid repeating last year's problems; a commissioner said, "I would recommend holding it for now... we don't want this to happen again in 2 months, and we're back in square 1." The board directed staff to use the meeting as clarification and to bring the item back when the liaison and language are stable.
