Riley County commissioners on Dec. 9 approved a package of routine administrative items, including tax-roll corrections, two 2025 cereal malt beverage licenses, minutes approval and a 2024 budget amendment.
The commission approved tax-roll corrections that included exemptions related to church property and adjustments spanning two properties over two years. A commissioner moved to approve the corrections and a second supported the motion; commissioners voted "Aye." "We moved and seconded to approve the tax roll corrections as written. All in favor? Aye," the clerk recorded.
The commission also authorized the chairman to sign retail dealers' 2025 cereal malt beverage licenses for Darris LLC at 5321 Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Darris LLC at 1132 Pillsbury Drive; the motion was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
Commissioners approved minutes from the Dec. 2, 2024, meeting after a motion and second. In the board's formal public hearing on the 2024 budget amendments, Budget and Finance Officer Britney Phillips presented a set of amendments; the board closed the hearing with no public comment and approved the amendment by motion. Commissioners emphasized that the amendment reallocated existing funds into capital improvement projects rather than increasing property taxes: "The money was already there. We're just preprocessing it ... it does not increase any taxes," a commissioner said during discussion.
All recorded motions referenced during the meeting were approved by unanimous voice vote.
Actions approved at the Dec. 9 meeting will be reflected in county records and follow-up items were assigned to county staff where needed.
