Riley County commissioners voted Dec. 9 to authorize the chairman to sign a contractual provisions attachment for a Civics Plus contract, a preliminary step county attorneys said is needed before presenting the full contract for final commission approval.
The commission’s action covered only the contractual provisions attachment; county counsel said the full contract will be returned to the commission as a single packet once the parties sign the attachment. "If the commission were to approve the contractual provisions attachment, which we're comfortable with this legal, then they'll sign it and then we'll bring the whole contract as one piece back," county counsel said during the meeting.
Commissioner (motion-maker) moved to authorize the chairman to sign the contractual provisions attachment “as presented.” Another commissioner seconded the motion and the commission approved it by voice vote.
County staff said the Civics Plus agreement is intended to replace the current minutes-management system and that signing the provisions attachment now will put the county on the vendor’s calendar and smooth the transition; the commission did not approve the full contract during the Dec. 9 meeting.
The contract packet will return to the board for formal final approval after countersignature of the provisions attachment and staff review of the remaining contract documents.
No fiscal totals were stated on the record during the Dec. 9 motion; staff said they had reviewed the contract and would present the full package with financial details when it returns to the commission.
