City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department representatives celebrated the grand opening of Old Spanish Trail (OST) Lofts, describing the 130-unit development as supporting families and neighborhood revitalization.
"Today, we are proud and excited to celebrate the grand opening of OST Lofts, a place that represents more than just new housing. It's a meaningful investment in our mission to build strong, sustainable neighborhoods across Houston," a department spokesperson said on City Pulse.
The segment described OST Lofts as a 130-unit development with one-, two- and three-bedroom units and said the city invested $19,300,000 in the project using disaster recovery funds. A tenant quoted on-air said the new home provides safety and stability: "Me and my daughter have found a place where we can come home, a place where we feel safe, appreciated, and supported." The broadcast did not detail the mix of subsidy types (project-based vouchers, LIHTC, other grants) or ongoing operating subsidies, nor did it present the developer name, ownership entity, tax credit usage or any council action number on-air.
The Housing and Community Development Department framed OST Lofts as turning disaster recovery dollars into longer-term housing solutions, but the segment stopped short of naming the operator, funding agreement terms or the development's tenant eligibility criteria.
