The mayor described a groundbreaking ceremony earlier that day for “AHS” and a new proton therapy center connected with Morristown Medical Center. The mayor said the therapy is cutting‑edge and observed — while speaking from the ceremony — that it was “one of three in the nation,” a figure he and other attendees then discussed and characterized as possibly subject to change. The mayor said the center would benefit the town and region and said it “is clearly gonna save thousands of lives over the over time,” attributing the comment to the ceremony presentations and his own remarks.
Council liaison reports during the meeting noted that the town’s housing team has returned to full staffing and is working through resident service issues; that streetscape and traffic island design work is advancing and will go before the Shade Tree Commission and other stakeholders; and that the next Planning Board meeting will occur later in October.
