District staff reported that construction work at the new Anson Middle School is nearing completion and described remaining work and recent site activity.
At the meeting, a district representative overseeing the project said three‑quarters of the pavement around the building is complete, most interior painting is finished, tile installation in classrooms is under way and heating and air‑conditioning systems are installed. The presenter said classrooms are nearly complete and that the building is beginning to look and function like a school.
The presenter also said the district conducted two tours in the last month: one for board members and a joint tour with county commissioners. "We've had two tours at Anson Middle School. We've were able to have all of you out as the board of education, and then we had a joint session with the county commissioners," the presenter said, describing positive collaboration between the two bodies. The presenter added that recent rain will help landscaping and that overall the project is on track toward the finish line.
No formal actions or budget votes on the project were recorded in the meeting minutes. The update was presented as information to the board; members did not take further action during the session.
