The Public Works and Sustainability Commission voted to cancel its regular November and December meetings and hold a single special meeting at 7 p.m. on Dec. 15 in the Council Chambers. Commissioners said holiday schedules and staff availability informed the decision.
The commission also selected leadership for the coming 12 months. Commissioners moved and approved a motion to reappoint Cindy Arata as chair and to appoint Commissioner Anderson as vice chair. The appointment was approved in a roll call vote with all present commissioners voting yes.
Staff noted one near‑term item expected for council consideration: reopening the bollards (Avenue H) for the Candy Cane Lane area was being handled at the Council level and did not require immediate commission action. Planning staff also asked the commission to consider a code item (commercial driveway widths on the Artesia/Aviation corridor) before year‑end if schedule permits; commissioners solicited availability and approved the December special meeting date to accommodate potential items.
The commission adjourned to the Dec. 15 special meeting and instructed staff to circulate the meeting notice and agenda in advance.
